How to create NFTs for free?

February 14, 2022

Hello, friends! Today we will talk about making NFTs for free. In previous articles, we have figured out how to start working with this area, and how to make money on it. It’s time to describe the creation mechanics separately. This is a kind of instruction, in addition to the previous one, about registration.

In fact, it’s not that difficult to create an NFT. Surely not more difficult than what you have already seen. But in order to avoid typical mistakes, we will analyze everything in details.

By the way, never ask “how to make nft tokens for free”. This is the incorrect writing. The abbreviation NFT already contains the word “token”. Thus, by typing such queries into the search engine, you repeat yourself and ask “how to make token tokens”.

Yes, people mustn’t know such little things when they first came to the crypto realm. But this is, in fact, the first mistake. Uncritical and does not affecting anything. perhaps, except the reputation.

Why is it necessary at all?
The second point. By creating the desired "free NFT" without preparation, you will not win in any way. If only the platform is not new, it is easier to build a reputation there. But anyway…

When the decision to realize yourself into the NFT sphere just comes to you, it would be nice to understand why you are doing this:

  • For the sake of hype. Not the worst option, but only if you have something to show. High-quality content that you haven’t shown anywhere else. In this case, yes, marketplaces can become additional "showcases" for you, and maybe you will be able to sell something.

  • For the creating NFTs itself. If you are just interested in the subject, this is not really an option. In this case, it’s better to do something first, and then upload it to the blockchain. Backyard production or garage made items won’t interest anyone — if only you’re not a well-known media personality.

  • Because it is reliable. That’s a good enough reason. Let’s say you want to transfer all your creativity to the blockchain. But here is the catch. You can be sure that you will not be fooled only by using the Pure NFT format. The fact is that classic NFTs do not include the rights transfer agreements. Therefore, if you expect to sell digital works in full format, this option is not suitable. But the content posted as Pure NFT can be transferred as a copy, you can give it for licensing, or with all rights. It’s like with physical copies.

  • To protect copyrights. Follows from the previous paragraph. The blockchain reliably records who uploaded the file. Since the data in the blockchain cannot be changed, deleted or damaged, everyone will know who created this exact thing, and to whom it then passed. It’s convenient, what to say.

  • For the sake of money. A rather funny option, but the most popular, perhaps. Yes, NFTs are often sold for more than ordinary digital art objects. The simple reason is that the buyer usually knows how to resell it for more. In addition, if we are talking about Pure NFT, then the buyer is also willing to pay for the rights attached to the content. Because he will be able to implement it in a variety of ways if he wants.

  • For the sake of creative freedom. Also an option. The buyer and the author are all the chain links. Neither publishers nor music labels restrict you. You posted the NFT, someone bought it, the transaction was fixed. This is the end of your cooperation with him. If you have sold exclusive rights, you have no effect on anything. If the rights of the licensor or ownership — you may still receive royalties for secondary sales. That is, someone resold your NFT to someone other, and you received a commission. Very convenient and practical.

A little more about security

Okay, let’s say you’ve decided on a goal. What to do with security? How can you be sure that your work will not be stolen and re-posted on other marketplaces?

Unfortunately, no one can prevent you from piraling your work. But if you use the FOIL blockchain, the data that you are the author will be fixed without the ability to change or delete them. Therefore, you will have something to rely on if you see your content posted on behalf of someone else on other marketplaces.

Therefore, you will have something to rely on if you see your content posted on behalf of someone else on other storefronts.

But at the same time, if you are caught publishing someone else’s work, you will lose the opportunity to post anything, and all NFTs created on your behalf will also be hidden. Because no one wants to buy and see fakes. And the buyer’s rights protection has no less priority on FOIL than the author’s rights protection.

Author’s rights, you say? And what will happen if the author, for example, posts a translation without having rights to the original text?

Everything is very simple. After all, NFT can be made from any computer file. It can be an image, video, music composition, a whole album, an archive with a game, text, book, translation… The main condition is that you are the author. All the “gray areas” of rights are the buyer’s concern. He pays you for the rights — it’s up to him to deal with their implementation. In my opinion, it’s fair. Thus, all participants of the transaction are safe from viewpoint of law. If the rights are suddenly not “cleared”, they simply have to be cleared by the owner who is going to implement them.

Okay, you’ve talked me into it. And where can I post NFT at all?
About this — in the next paragraph.

Marketplaces and blockchains
First of all, we will talk about the already mentioned FOIL blockchain and the FOIL Network.
Registration: free
Verification: KYC/AML, verification by trusted centers (security +100, yep)
Tokens: Pure NFT (in the blockchain is the content itself and the rights transfer agreement)
You can upload: anything
Currency: FOIL / DOGE

So, this is an option for the audience described above - fans of unique rights. In this community, fixing a deal is a critical moment. It is even easier to check the uniqueness via provenance: if the NFT was owned by hundreds of people in turn, this community is unlikely to buy it.

Secondly, the most famous crypto exchange Binance. Recently, they have launched their own marketplace.

Registration: free
Verification: passport, passport selfie, short video
Tokens: BEP-721
You can upload: photos, videos, music up to 50 MB
Currency: the marketplace is connected to the exchange, you can change the currency for the right one immediately.

This is an option for people who want to sell faster. The daily trading volume on Binance is one of the most impressive. Not so long ago, it was approximately equal to the Russian Federation’s budget.

Next is another well-known marketplace: OpenSea.

Registration: free
Verification: no, it is enough to have a crypto wallet
You can upload: anything
Currency: Ethereum

I don’t see much point inlooking at other marketplaces.. They are all different, but you have caught the general essence. The higher the verification threshold, the more reliable. Always pay attention to this.

Further aspects, based on this, will be considered on the example of FOIL.
Why is it free?
Indeed, how can creating an NFT on the FOIL Network be free? After all, a place in the blockchain is not free.

But there is a tricky point here. There is a double tokenomics in FOIL. In addition to the main token, there is a gas token - MVolt. It is used to pay commissions/transactions and is issued as a reward for the processed block in the FOIL blockchain. So by simply processing blocks, you will receive an additional crypto asset used within the network. And for this crypto asset to pay for the creation of NFT. It turns out to almost a barter: a free NFT creating for the support of the network.

Alternatively, you can create a work in a test network. It’s free by definition. If people like it, the transfer to the main network is free of charge. Also a pretty good way, if you think about it. Then everyone who can do something really good can count on a “quick start” with help from FOIL.

And now - let’s consider the process of token creating.

How to create a token. Step-by-step instructions

1. Go to the “Services” section, click on “NFT tokens” button.
2. We are on the marketplace. Click “Create NFT token”
3. Fill in the fields, upload the media file and the icon. Click “Create NFT token”

4. A confirmation window pops up. Confirm.
5. Wait. After some time, the token is created.
6. This is how the token looks “from the inside”. Now it can be sold.
7. Specify the price of the token.
8. Confirm the transaction.
9. After the system confirms the token creation, we go to the marketplace, find the necessary token, and now everyone can buy it.
The step-by-step instructions are finished here, and the article too.

So, today we learned that you can create NFT for free, and even looked at the creation process in FOIL Network. In addition, it became clearer why people are creating tokens at all. You can earn both money and a reputation on this. And you can do it for the art.

Free creation of NFT is possible not on all marketplaces, but on very many. But it is in FOIL that security is given priority — both for the buyer and for the author. This is an important point.

Well, that’s all for today. The next article will tell about the Proof-of-Stake algorithm, one of the four FOIL algorithms. Bye. Live for the sake of art!
